“If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human,” is the idea behind James Dashner’s The Maze Runner series.
Can you imagine waking up one day only remembering your name? No childhood memories, no knowledge of your parents or friends. The only thing you know is your name and how life works.
Well, just that happens to everyone in the Glade.
A teenager, Thomas, wakes up to find himself in a new place surrounded by other people who only know their first name, just like him. That place, the Glade, is a large area closed by stone walls. These walls open up every night, leading them to the maze that will hopefully bring them home.
Every thirty days a new person arrives at the Glade, but no one expected the newest arrival…a girl. The ONLY girl, who arrives with a message.
This dystopian novel is packed with action and excitement in every page. Compared to other dystopian novels, this is said to be one of the most original, with characters that you get attached to, and filled with a bunch of mysteries and plot twists.
This is only the beginning though. There are five books in the Maze Runner series, and only three of the five were produced into movies. One of the three, The Death Cure, came out this year.
